Long-Term Substitute School SLP, Benhaven School

Benhaven School in Wallingford is seeking two qualified and experienced Speech & Language Pathologists to fill in temporarily. Approximately from August 2024 through December 2024.  The substitute SLP's will be responsible for providing speech and language therapy services to students with autism and developmental disabilities. This is a Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm,37.5 hour a week hourly position. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to determine student's speech and language needs
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals based on assessment findings
  • Provide speech therapy services to students in both individual and group settings, direct and indirect
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the student's educational team to support student development and progress
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, treatment plans, and communication with stakeholders
  • Attend student meetings, PPT meetings, and additional meetings such as Functional Behavior Assessment (FBS), Behavior Support Plan updates/discussions, Futures Planning, and DDS Individual (IP) meetings
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and state regulations


Qualifications:

  • Current Speech Pathology license from the Connecticut Department of Public Health
  • ASHA certification (CCC-SLP)
  • Current Educator Certificate with a Speech and Language Pathologist endorsement from the Connecticut State Department of Education


Preferred Experience:

  • Working in CT schools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to adapt to different school settings and work with diverse student populations
  • Familiarity with AAC programs such as LAMP WFL, TouchChat, and Proloquo2Go
