Instructional Assistant Supervisor, Career & Transition Services
Career & Transition Services is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Instructional Assistant Supervisor to join our team.The ideal candidate must be motivated and have the ability to work with people with autism spectrum disorders and other intellectual disorders, be a team player, and create an environment of accountability and support. This position involves supervising Instructional Assistants, enhancing program effectiveness, facilitating training, and ensuring that all services align with the goals of empowering our individuals for their future careers and lives.

Responsibilities:- Hiring & Training: Leads in the hiring process, provides initial training, maintains training & documentation, provides trainings
- Supervision & Personnel Management: Direct supervision to Instructional Assistants, conducts evaluations & immediate feedback, conducts weekly supervisory meetings, recognizes need for disciplinary process & implements, completes regular Therap reviews & follow up
- Leadership & Team Skills: Works collaboratively with Career & Transition Management, serves as a resource for all staff, facilitates open communication, nurtures a positive environment for Instructional Assistants, fosters respectful work environment for all, nurtures teamwork
- Professional Self-Management: Monitors & complies with policies & procedures, monitors own professional development goals & seeks out professional learning opportunities, additional responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of and experience working with people with autism or similiar developmental disabilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of positive behavioral support, learning styles, teaching strategies and communication strategies for people with autism
- Has demonstrated a commitment to support and implement Benhaven's Mission/Values by supporting the growth of staff to help achieve the mission
- Understands and demonstrates the importance of confidentiality
- Demonstrates a strong desire to develop Instructional Assistants in achieving a high level of professional performance
- Demonstrates the ability to coach/mentor adults and manage orientation and ongoing training programs for staff.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude, high level of energy and enthusiasm in carrying out responsibilities
- Demonstrates strong role model and leadership abilities, excellent interpersonal skills, good decision-making skills and the willingness and ability to address unhealthy/unproductive practices among staff.
- Demonstrates the ability to encourage productive ways to handle conflict and is solution focused.
- Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively among core/professional staff and demonstrates a value for a team approach.
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Has experience facilitating and presenting trainings and managing monthly supervisory meetings
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize, organize and complete assignments in a timely manner
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently, seeking support when needed and keeping their supervisor informed
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Master's degree preferred
- Experience working with individuals with Autism or developmental disabilities
- A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
- Must have a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license
- Must be able to pass a variety of background checks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
- Must be willing to work as part of a team
- Computer skills a must, or willingness to learn
