Instructional Assistant, Benhaven Career & Transition Services
Benhaven Career & Transition Services is seeking 3 Instructional Assistants.
The Instructional Assistants will support individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities in developing work maturity and life skills necessary to obtain and maintain meaningful employment. These positions also provide individualized support in post-secondary education settings and throughout the community.
All supports are person-centered and focus on achieving career and life goals that promote maximum independence for each individual. The Instructional Assistants will report directly to the Supervisor and/or Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site job coaching and employment support to individuals at various community job and volunteer sites.
- Support individuals in developing workplace readiness, social, and daily living skills.
- Monitor individuals’ work performance and provide feedback and prompts as needed.
- Implement teaching strategies, skill-building programs, and behavioral protocols.
- Implement and follow individualized behavior support plans.
- Complete all data requirements in a timely manner.
- Provide accurate documentation on individual progress and activities.
- Consistently model appropriate work skills and hold individuals to the same expectations.
- Maintain professionalism while working across diverse settings, including job sites, volunteer programs, college campuses, and the Career & Transition building.
- Collaborate with team members, employers, and community partners to promote participant success.
- Follow established procedures and protocols while demonstrating flexibility and the ability to think on your feet in dynamic situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle in order to transport individuals in the community
- Experience supporting individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities
- Experience with behaviors and implementing behavior support plans
- Experience with implementing teaching strategies
- Enthusiastic, positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism and flexibility across various environments.
- Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills required
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
